Undergraduate Medicine students benefit from early clinical experience integrated with case-based teaching on the five and six year courses. Teaching is delivered by clinicians who work in a diverse range of disciplines and provide excellent care to patients using the latest technology and are part of a medical community with well-established links with NHS Trusts and general practices across the East Midlands.
The University of Nottingham offers the Pathways to Medicine programme, supported by academic and clinical staff from the School of Medicine. The programme provides professional insights, course Q&As, application support and guidance for applying to medicine. Participants will be offered in-person work experience placements at one of two Nottingham hospitals and a 5-day residential summer school experience in July.

Check you are eligible
You may apply to a Pathways programme if you:
- Are studying in Year 12 in England or Wales, Year 13 in Northern Ireland, or S5 in Scotland (or equivalent)
- Attend, and have always attended, a state-funded school or college (non-fee paying) in the UK

Applications open
It’s a very simple application form, mostly yes/no questions but it does include one longer question[s] as follows –
“Please give a brief personal statement (of no more than 300 words) explaining your suitability for the programme and why you would like to participate”
